Ocoee Yurt Company is located in the Tennessee Overhill Country. The Tennessee Overhill takes its name from the designation given to th Overhill Cherokee Towns that were situated "over" the mountains from the Carolina colonies. The Overhill Towns were clustered along the Little Tennessee, Telllico, Hiawassee and Ocoee Rivers in what is today Monroe, McMinn and Polk Counties.

In the Overhill area you can experience a variety of activities. There are five rivers, four lakes, one underground lake and two scenic by-ways. Tennessee's only national forest is located here along with three state parks, a British Fort and a gold district.

You can also experience a textile museum, railroad museum, Cherokee museum, antique shops and craft galleries. Other museums include a copper mining museum, pioneer museum and a Japanese culture center.

For whitewater rafting buffs there is a world class whitewater race course along with numerous other white water rafting opportunities.

Mountain bikers will find miles of trails to ride and hikers can experience the mountains in all their glory.

As you can see there is plenty to see and do while on your Ocoee Yurt Company vacation. Check out our events page to find interesting and exciting events that are coming to the Ocoee Area. Call us today to find out more about the adventures we offer.
